Are your massage therapists registered? Can I have my treatment covered under my employer’s extended medical plan?

Yes, all of our talented massage therapists are registered with the province of British Columbia and will give you a receipt at the end of your treatment with the information needed to get reimbursed from your extended health plan.

It is best to look at your extended health plan to see if you have massage therapy covered under your plan and whether you require a physician’s prescription for massage before you can be reimbursed for your treatment.

What Are the Benefits of Massage Therapy?

Massage Therapy can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Massage and bodywork is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being.

Massage Therapy is an effective treatment for:

  • Arthritis/ bursitis/ tendonitis
  • Back and neck pain
  • Fibromyalgia/ chronic stress
  • Constipation/menstrual disorders
  • Headache/ migraine
  • Muscle strains/ sprains/ spasms
  • Neuritis/ neuralgia/ sciatica
  • Post-surgical rehabilitation
  • Pregnancy
  • Respiratory conditions
  • Sports injuries/ dislocations
  • Temporo mandibular joint (TMJ) pain
  • Whiplash
  • Scar tissue remodelling

Do I need a referral from a doctor for massage?

You should always check with your doctor before trying different therapies especially with regard to illness or medications. Some insurance companies may require a prescription or referral from a medical doctor before you can get reimbursement for massage therapy.

Do you accept MSP? (Medical Service Plan)

Yes, but please note that we are “opted out”. This means you will be charged the full price for your treatment but we will remit the necessary paper work on your behalf that will qualify you to receive a reimbursement of $23.00/massage up to 10 massages per calendar year from the British Columbia government. *Please note that only those who qualify for MSP assistance receive this benefit*

Do you accept WCB (Workers Compensation Board) claims?

No, unfortunately we do not accept WCB claims but we would be happy to refer you to a clinic near you that does. Please contact us for more information.

Do you offer prenatal and postnatal massage? When can I receive massage while I am pregnant?

Yes, all of our Registered Massage Therapists are qualified to give wonderful and effective massage treatments to help aid in the physiological issues that can arise from carrying and caring for your child.

You can safely receive massage during your entire pregnancy.

Our studio is equipped with specialized prenatal tables and cushions to ensure that you are as comfortable as possible during your massage.

Why do you need to know what medications I am taking?

In order to ensure a safe and effective treatment your massage therapist needs a full health history including any medications or supplements you may be taking. Some medications will require your therapist to alter their approach to your treatment as well as some medications may present contraindications to massage therapy.

What clothing will I need to remove?

Clients undress to their level of comfort and will have the privacy to do so. You will always be covered with a sheet during your treatment and only the areas that your therapist is working on directly will be undraped. If your preferance is to keep your clothing on, your therapist will work over them without using oil or lotion.

Can my children receive Massage Therapy?

Absolutely. Massage is safe at all ages from infant to senior. It can be a great way to help ease the stresses that children face whether it be from school or from the physical stresses placed on their bodies from the sports that they play. Depending on the age of the child shorter treatment times can be arranged. We always welcome the parent into the treatment room to help make their children feel comfortable.

We also offer classes on infant massage for new parents. Please contact us for upcoming class dates. Private instruction is also available.

Can I tell my Massage Therapist if I feeling uncomfortable during my massage?

Your comfort is our top priority. We will always ask for your feedback during your massage. We also welcome at any time throughout your treatment requests you may have regarding change in pressure, temperature, lighting, music or positioning.
