Wonderful Winter Smoothie Recipe by Kate, RHN

This smoothie is a great energy boost to start your chilly winter day!

(You can substitute whey protein powder for ground flax or chia seeds and you can use any %100 fruit juice of your choice.)


Makes 1 Serving

1/2 of a ripe banana

3/4 cup low-fat plain organic yogurt (you can also use kefir)

1/2 cup cranberry juice

1/2 cup water (add slowly until desire thickness is reached)

2 Tbsp whey protein powder


Add all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and enjoy!

Kate recently moved from the beautiful Annapolis Valley, NS where the availability of fresh local produce ignited her passion to pursue a career in health care. She exemplifies holistic nutrition’s fundamental belief in the importance of maintaining a healthy connection between mind, body, spirit through her commitment to healthy eating, exercise and personal development.

Kate completed the RHN program with the Canadian School of Holistic Nutrition and will soon be qualified to perform Meridian Stress Assessments which will enhance her holistic nutrition consultations.

She is committed to helping her clients attain their goals of health and wellness. Kate believes that simple changes can deliver big results.

Healing Tree is pleased to introduce Crystal Simser, RMT to the team! She is available Thursdays for massage therapy treatments. You can book conveniently online or call 604-605-TREE (8733) to speak with our receptionist.

Crystal joins the Healing Tree team with 6 years of massage therapy experience. She is knowledgeable in treating a wide range of conditions including postural dysfunctions, post-surgical breast care, respiratory conditions and everyday issues affecting the musculo-skeletal system.  Crystal strives to make each treatment personalized and to assist her clients in attaining a healthier and more active lifestyle.

Free Infant Massage Course

Healing Tree is pleased to offer a free Infant Massage Course this March 2011.

When: 4 Wednesdays –  March 9-30th / 10:30-11:30am

Course Description:

Come and learn a full body massage routine as well as easy and effective techniques to help common infant concerns such as colic, congestion and digestive issues.

This course is offered free of charge. A performance review of the instructors will be handed out at the end of the course. Each participants review would be greatly appreciated.

Infant Massage Instruction

Starting in the New Year, Healing Tree will be offering classes for parents and caregivers in Infant Massage. Infant Massage is a wonderful way to bond with Baby. Come and learn how many common ailments such as teething, congestion and colic can be aided with simple yet effective massage techniques.

Low Back/Hip Muscle Energy Technique (MET)

MET for the hips and low back is an amazing way to examine and treat the hips and spine. Did you know that a your sore neck could actually be caused by an imbalance in your hips or that your chronic low back discomfort may be related to a fall you experienced years ago? If it seems that your “usual” complaints get only temporarily remedied then MET could be for you.

Prenatal Yoga Coming to Healing Tree Massage

Wow! This incredibly empowering class for all pregnant women is a true treasure! Founded in the belief that by creating conscious mothers we create conscious babies, this is a must-have experience for all moms-to-be. We aim to offer prenatal yoga in the New Year at Healing Tree.
